Stop dreaming; watch Singapore Dreaming ...

If you are tired of Mediacorp productions and probably mediocre acting skills they are famous for, try out the movie Singapore Dreaming. Check it out here.

It opens on 7th September. I would be there.

Or visit Mr Brown's site to hear out the movie producers if you're the type who really wants to make sure your every dollar is well-spent.

The movie talks about Singaporeans' penchant for 5Cs. Actually, I thought we have surpassed that, we have become the 6th C - that of a COMPLAINING, CONSUMING COGWHEEL. We eat, we shop and we complain.

Do you have have a dream?

Is it your dream?

Or are you just dreaming you have a dream?

Or worse, you believe you are living in your dream?

Or worst of all, you begin to realise your dream is a nightmare?

Some PAP minister was telling the young to dream beyond the size of our tiny red dot, some days ago.

Good. But, he did not say "don't dream beyond the size of your brain's power" and start thinking you can achieve what LKY had .... you'll have to find another red dot to do so.

Afternote:

I am compelled to include an exchange I had with Cobaltpaladin ( macam shining knight in armour) here. His comments help to give more sense to my entry especially for those who think I had none to start with!

How would we know what is the right size of the dream should be?
If the Wright brothers stopped dreaming, we may not have aeroplanes.
Don't stop dreaming and don't stop trying.

CP,you've hit the nail with "don't stop trying".
It's easy to dream, harder to try. When we try, we'll know how big our dreams should be ...
Just dreaming is not good enough.
I bow to your wisdom...

I let my dream soars and let my actions bring me there.

I rather dare to dream than told what to dream.

I work towards the dream then hold onto that dream.

You mean you dream but never buy hah?

It's ok because one can make a career out of dreaming too ....

If you are still dreaming, then I conclude you are the loser, still?

Better luck when the Casino opens, hor.

Or try sitting under the Bodhi tree... it might help.

Not sure about the whole dreaming aspect of life in general. All I know is that I once heard someone say that a 'man without dreams is a man without life'. Mind you, I always go by the thought that as long as you are happy with what you have then you have got your dream settled.

though I would like to comment on the movie 'Singapore Dreaming'. I happened to be in Singapore last week for 10 days visiting my fiancee and we got the sneak peek of the show on a Wednesday. I found it to be quite an interesting movie and when asked my fiancee replied that 'yes, that is pretty much like a Singaporean life with the exception that it doesnt happen all at once'. All I know is that watching the movie and having listened to her tell her story of her family and the story of her friends family, all I can say is that the movie hits the culture square on the head quite good. If there could be an Oscar over here in North America given out to a movie that reflects the culture perfectly, then this movie wouldnt even have to be voted in, it is a given that it would win hands down.

Putting the dream to action is the first step of everything.

I have seen far too many that just talk the dream, speak the dream but never walk the dream at all. In the end? All just dream talks.

I had interviewed many Singapore youngsters who never had dreams!

I won't hesitate to hire those with dreams, even knowing that they will not stay for long ...

In fact, I am happy to see them go to pursue their dreams ...

    Oh yes, I had the same experience before. When asked if they really dont have any.. most of them gave me a conformance answer;

"study hard, get a job, climb the ladder, get promotions, get more money, have kids, go holiday once a year, climb the ladder somemore, get more money, more holiday.

..and that is a dream? Oh ok... thank you."

Yes, we can dream, but not let the dream be burst when we wake up everyday facing reality and "brutal truth". If dream cannot be make here, perhaps, we can realize our dreams in somewhere land.

The dream of doing what we love and want, with truth and compassion, with humanity and honour, with respect to all living being.

I think I begin to feel like android, been programm everyday just to do work, eat, sleep and face the routine for rest of my life til death took me.

I begin to respect Dr Chee and JB because they fight for their belief. Their belief give them strength to fight for the freedom and oppression of the elite running the country who keep laying path for us that lead to road of "pure ignorance and ultimately lost hope and destruction"

Until gov release us, we are just lost soul fighting to survive everyday, fearing the day of job lost and having to pay mortage loan.

Yes, maybe that day will come, where MRT will all have casket and cremation service located in station. Easy die, easy clear.
